WORK EXPERIENCE

Architect, Walter B. Melvin Architects, NY, NY, March 2010 to present. Responsible for drawing and specification development, overseeing the bid phase, agency filing, and construction administration at a firm specializing in the exterior restoration of masonry structures in New York City.

Architect, Moshe Safdie and Associates, Cambridge, MA, March 2007 to September 2009. Job Captain for the new building at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Developed plans and sections for master planning phase of the Asian University for Women, Design Development documents for the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and the Skirball Cultural Center, and details for the Construction Document phase of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Designer, Empyrean International, LLC, Acton, MA, July 2006 to February 2007. Designed houses and other building types using the Deck House panelized building system. Projects include a village hall in southern England and a private residence in Israel.

Intern for Edward Tufte, Cheshire, CT, June and July 2006. Assisted in the development of a proposal for a World Trade Center Memorial. Evaluated an existing metal sculpture for scalar transformation and placement in the landscape.

Consultant, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Cambridge, MA, February and March 2006. Evaluated slopes and assessed possible pathways on proposed landform at the Don River Park in Toronto. Co-ordinated graphics for Spring 2006 GSD lobby exhibition.

Fabricator, Teaching Assistant and Shop Monitor, Kimo Griggs Architect, Somerville, MA, Spring 2002, Summer 2004-05. Fabricated projects and assisted students in wood and metal shop. Techniques used include CNC router and plasma cutter.

Carpenter, McLaughlin Housewrights, East Greenwich, RI, October 2003-May 2004. Renovated 19th century Victorian mansion. Experience with wood framing, roofing, shingling, and finish carpentry.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

JP Art Market, Jamaica Plain, MA, October 2009. Art exhibition, "The Alphabet Drawings." 26 line drawings exploring the abstracted form of the letters of the alphabet.

Cummings Stained Glass Studios, North Adams, MA, Summer 2002. Experimented with cold glass techniques, modeled lighting conditions for a church vestry room.

Independent study researching the material qualities of glass, Harvard University GSD, Spring 2002. Design project based in processes observed at a variety of glass businesses.

La Sabranenque Historic Preservation, Volunteer, St. Victor La Coste, France, June 1998. Learned traditional techniques of excavation and construction, built walls and unearthed architectural details on twelfth-century castles.

Late Nite Theater, Set Designer, NY, NY, Spring 1998. Designed and built collapsible set for student production of The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-In-The-Moon Marigolds.

John Yeon Preserve For Landscape Studies, Site Analyst and Designer, Columbia River Gorge, July 1997. Researched effects of heavy flooding on riverbank and investigated recently developed geotextiles for feasibility in stabilization, developed several approaches for using such approaches in high-impact areas.
