PORTFOLIO
In 2006 I graduated from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design with a Masters Degree in Architecture. I worked for two and a half years for Moshe Safdie and Associates in Somerville, MA, collaborating with a small team on a new 40,000 square foot building at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. I completed my Internship Development Program, earned my architectural license in Massachusetts, and became a LEED Green Associate.
In March 2010, I left Boston and returned to New York City (where I went to college) to take a job at Walter B. Melvin Architects, a 30 person firm specializing in exterior masonry restoration. In this position I am gaining critical project management skills while overseeing a number of jobs from drawing and specification development thorough the bid phase and construction administration. This spring I became a registered architect in New York State.
Through my experience working at WBMA and in other jobs where the work required that I spend extensive time at construction sites, I have found that construction administration is a particularly rewarding avenue within the field. On May 9-10, 2011, I participated in a conference sponsored by Engineering News-Record magazine titled "Groundbreaking Women in Construction," which was an interdisciplinary gathering of engineers, architects, project managers, lawyers, and business people. The keynote speakers and panelists addressed issues related to technology, the economy, social media, gender dynamics, innovation, and mentoring relationships. I am interested in continuing these conversations and developing collegial relationships with others committed to personal and professional growth within the construction industry.
